Hunting in the Timaru District
Whether you are looking to head into the hills by yourself, or you are wanting a guided experience, the Timaru District offers many options for all hunting levels.
We have a wide range of deer species, including red deer, wapiti (or elk) and fallow, as well as Chamois and Tahr. Within the region you will also find duck, feral sheep, wallabies, pigs, goats, possums, rabbits, hare and pheasants roaming the hill country and sub alpine wilderness.

Blue Mountain Station
Based in Four Peak Range behind Geraldine, Blue Mountain Station is a 9500hr station comprises of rolling hills through to step tussock sub-alpine terrain running alongside the beautiful Orari River.
The station offers guided as well as un-guided hunting options.
Animals you can hunt on Blue Mountain Station include:
- Red Deer
- Fallow Deer
- Chamois
- Himalayan Tahr
Please note that trophy fees apply for stags older than two years as well as Chamois and Tahr.
